A SPECIAL DAY FOR YEARS 5 AND 6 IN ALL THE PRIMARY SCHOOLS OF THE TEAM

On Monday 3rd October the year 5 and 6 children from our local cluster of CE Primary Schools gathered in Cartmel Priory for a special worship day. Many of our congregation helped in the activities. The theme for the drama, prayer, singing, craft, treasure hunt, games and worship was Storm on the Lake.

Following the very successful day, organised by Jenny Leahy, the following messages came from the headteachers of the schools:

‘Our children have given such positive feedback about the day, they have clearly enjoyed it.  My teacher,  mentioned how wonderful the volunteers were with the children and how many of them there were.  It is thanks to their generosity that the children access such experiences and I would like to pass on our school’s thanks to yourself and your team.’ (Allithwaite)

‘Many thanks for a great day at the Priory; I know that our children had a fantastic time thanks to you and your team.  I think it is a great way of helping our young people to interact with others from their cluster and work with adults they would not normally meet.  It raises their self-esteem and confidence and engages them in exciting activities which reinforce the values that we all promote within our schools.’ (Grange)

‘Thank you again for all your work on the day.  The children really enjoyed themselves and it is always great for them to mix with all the other cluster schools and get to meet new people, alongside all the valuable learning which took place.’ (Cartmel)

‘Many thanks for a fantastic day for our children; they thoroughly enjoyed the event as too did the staff who went with them - a first for them both too! Please pass on our schools thanks to all those involved in making this such a memorable occasion; our children and staff have benefitted greatly from the whole experience.’ (Flookburgh)

‘It was an excellent day so thank you again and also thanks to all the team who worked so hard throughout it.  I think having Mark up front was excellent and the ratios of adults to children was great. They all had plenty of time to talk to adults throughout the activities.’ (Lindale)

Jenny passed on this poignant prayer written by one of the children from the prayers for refugees:

‘Dear God, I know that I am safe but please, please help these poor people. You may be fed up with doing this but they need you. Amen’
