THE RECTOR'S GARDEN PARTY
to celebrate his 25 years of priesthood
On Wednesday, 2nd July, over 100 people gathered in the Rector's garden to help him celebrate the silver anniversary of his priesting. The weather, though sunny in the morning, was overcast by mid-day but no rain fell.
It took 32 punnets of strawberries, a gallon and a half of cream, a crew of volunteer caterers and gazebo builders, a collection of collared and uncollared clergy, two nuns, a pianist and around 130 guests....but we did it! We had a first class Garden Party to celebrate Nick's 25 years as a priest. Oh, and we ended up with an overflowing recycle bin of empty bottles because, let's face it, without bubbles it wouldn't have been a party!
What is the collective noun for clergy?
I found out that it is a prudence of vicars and a bench of bishops....but clergy?
