Farewell

The Team Rector, the Revd Ian Coomber, officiated at his final Communion service at St Paul's on Easter Sunday, before his retirement.

The following Sunday, Low Sunday, the parishes of Grange and Lindale entertained Ian and his wife, Jill, to a celebratory lunch in the Parish Hall.
The menu was chosen with a Cumbrian theme: Morecambe Bay shrimps with melon, Cumberland sausages, and sticky toffee pudding to follow!

This was followed by afternoon tea, to which all the members of the other parishes in the Team were invited, along with representatives from the other churches in Grange, Boarbank Hall and Cartmel Priory School.  A special cake had been made and was cut by Ian.

Following the Tea, everyone walked over to the Church where the formal presentations were made on behalf of the parishes of Grange and Lindale, and of the Team as a whole.  A packed congregation filled the church for the final service of Thanksgiving for Ministry and a Praying Farewell.  A very moving occasion - Ian will be very much missed - but we wish him and Jill a long, happy and healthy  retirement in Somerset.
