CAKE and CREATION
At the beginning of this short family service on Sunday 9th October we welcomed God into the church and rang the bells we used at Edward Bear Club.
Ring, ring, ring the bell - We know that we are here
Ring, ring, ring the bell - We know that God is here.
We talked about how the Bible tells us that God made this beautiful world for us all to share and we are to be the custodians for the future.
We went on to sing a hymn about the beauty of nature and the world around us. Then came the Bible story of the Creation – told in verse. We had 5 children as readers: Alice, Kacey, Ella, Thomas, Toby, and one adult, David Wheatcroft.
The story flowed and the children (and helpers too!) paraded around church wearing the appropriate headbands, from black earth, light, sky, land, sea, plants, trees, animals, insects, birds, fishes and finally to man.
Then we joined together in a Creation Psalm with responses, ending with
Three cheers for God
Hip, hip, hooray
And all the people said
The Lord’s prayer was sung and we concluded with thinking about all the good things we have and praying that others would be just as blessed as we are. The service ended with a sung Benediction Blessing -
Shine, Shine, the Lord make his face to shine upon you.
Peace, peace, the Lord turn his face to you and give you his peace.
The Lord bless you, keep you, be gracious to you.
